Function of the Flash Dryer in Manioc Flour Processing Plant:

1.Moisture Reduction:The primary function of the flash dryer in manioc flour processing plant is to quickly reduce the moisture content of the cassava (manioc) flour cake from a high level (typically 50-60%) to a low level (around 10-12%) suitable for milling into flour.

2.Preservation of Nutritional Quality: The flash dryer operates at high temperatures for a very short time, which helps preserve the nutritional properties of the manioc flour.

3.Efficient Drying:The manioc flour drying machine ensures uniform drying, preventing clumping, and ensuring consistent product quality.

4.Preparation for Milling:Drying the cassava flour cake to the desired moisture level makes it easier to further grind the granules into fine and powdery manioc flour.

Working Principle of Manioc Flour Flash Dryer:

The flash dryer operates on the principle of high-velocity hot air circulationto rapidly evaporate moisture from the manioc flour cake. Here's how it works step by step:

1.Preparation of Manioc Flour Cake:

The cassava roots are peeled, grated, and sometimes fermented to produce cassava pulp or cake, depending on the specific process.

2.Feeding the Material:

The wet manioc flour cake is fed into the flash dryer through a conveyor.

3.Hot Air Circulation:

At the front of the flash dryer, there is a hot air stove which will heat the passed air current. When the stream of high-temperature, high-velocity hot airis generated and circulated, the air temperature typically ranges from 100°C to 150°C (212°F to 302°F). Meanwhile, the fan at the end of the drying machine will draw the hot air inside the pipes, then negative pressure under the work of atmospheric pressure is appeared. When the wet manioc flour enters the flash dryer, it will touch the hot air and be dried. The dried manioc flour will flow with the air current inside the pipes due to its low density. Qualified manioc flour will be discharged from the outlet.

4.Collection of Dried Manioc Flour:

The dried manic flour (usually with a low moisture of 12%-14%) will be transported into a sifter sieve for sieving. The qualified fine manioc flour will pass the mesh and be collected, while thr coarse one will be conveyed to the fine flour milling machine for further process until meeting the fineness requirement.
