Starch water sieving process, also called starch dehydration is one of key sections in starch production line. What equipment can sieve starch water from cassava dough? Actually there are two equipment can dehydrate starch: vacuum filter and peeler centrifuge. The article will introduce the two equipment.
Vacuum filter
Vacuum filter is a kind of starch sieving equipment employed to achieve solid-liquid separation by vacuum negative pressure. It is often used in the dehydration process of cassava starch production line. The feed is refined and concentrated starch milk, and wet starch with about 45% moisture can be obtained after dehydration. The dehydration process is continuous.

Equipment composition: drum, scraper, starch milk storage tank, agitator, vacuum pump, motor reducer and control system, gas-liquid separation tank.
Working principle: Under negative pressure of vacuum pump, starch milk in the tank is adsorbed on the surface of the drum. While the drum is rotating, the starch is dehydrated and adsorbed starch is transferred to the other side, then dehydrated starch is unloaded to the subsequent conveying equipment by scraper and transported to the drying equipment for drying. The moisture content of starch after dehydration can be controlled by adjusting the speed of drum.
Vacuum filter is made of food grade stainless steel 304, ensuring cleanness, sanitary and long service life. And it has advantages of stable operation, low energy consumption, small occupy area, no noise and easy operation and maintenance.
Peeler centrifuge
Peeler centrifuge is a kind of solid-liquid separation equipment with continuous operation and intermittent discharge. It is used for sieving excessive water in starch milk in cassava starch production. After dehydration, wet starch with about 38% moisture can be obtained.

Equipment composition: host machine, door cover, scraper limit device, sight glass, feed pipe, material layer controller, washing pipe combination, washing tube, skimming pipe, tanks.
Working principle: Adding water firstly to ensure the flow of starch material feeding, so that the material is evenly distributed on the inner wall of the centrifuge drum. After starch milk enters the machine, the drum continues to rotate at high speed, and the water is removed under the action of centrifugal force. After dehydration is completed, starch stays on the surface, ,the unloading process is completed by automatic feed of the scraper in the drum. After the discharge is completed, the backflush water is used to complete the washing of the filter screen to ensure the permeability of the screen.
There are two main two kinds of peeler centrifuge:ordinary type and siphon type. Under normal circumstances, the processing capacity of siphon type machine is nearly twice that of ordinary type machine of the same specification. The siphon peeler centrifuge has higher dehydration efficiency.

Vacuum filter: the starch dehydration after the water is slightly higher, but because of the continuity can ensure the starch after drying water stability.
Peeler centrifuge: can achieve a lower moisture point of starch, but it is intermittent discharge, which is not convenient for stable feeding of subsequent drying equipment.
